ALIFT (Anterior Lumbar Interbody Fusion Technique)

Anterior Lumbar Interbody Fusion (ALIF) is a surgical procedure to treat lower back pain caused by damaged or degenerated spinal discs. During ALIF, the surgeon accesses the spine from the front of the abdomen, gently removing the unhealthy disc. They then insert a special implant or bone graft to stabilize the spine and promote natural fusion of the vertebrae. This approach helps restore proper alignment, relieve nerve pressure, and reduce pain, allowing the bones to grow together over time into a solid, stable segment. ALIF is commonly used to treat conditions like degenerative disc disease and spondylolisthesis.
