The concept gained attention with the star KIC 8462852, also known as Tabby's Star, which exhibited unusual, irregular dimming patterns. Some scientists proposed that these dimming events could be caused by enormous structures—like a swarm of artificial objects—built by aliens, rather than natural phenomena. While intriguing, there is no current evidence that such structures exist; the idea remains speculative and is used to explore possibilities of extraterrestrial technology and intelligence.
