Alid Theology

Alid theology is a branch of Islamic belief that centers on the leadership qualities and spiritual authority of Ali ibn Abi Talib, the cousin and son-in-law of Prophet Muhammad. Followers, known as Shi'a or Shi'ites, believe Ali and his descendants are the rightful Imams, divinely chosen leaders who possess special spiritual insight and guidance. This contrasts with Sunni Islam, which emphasizes community consensus in leadership. Alid theology highlights themes of justice, divine appointment, and spiritual legitimacy, shaping Shi'a practices and beliefs about the nature of religious authority and the role of Imams in guiding followers.
