ALI (acute lung injury)
Acute Lung Injury (ALI) is a condition where the lungs become inflamed and damaged rapidly, leading to difficulty in breathing and insufficient oxygen supply to the body. This inflammation causes fluid to leak into the air sacs, reducing lung flexibility and impairing gas exchange. ALI can result from infections, trauma, or other illnesses, and often requires medical support such as oxygen therapy or ventilation. While some recover fully, severe cases can lead to long-term lung problems or be life-threatening, emphasizing the need for prompt diagnosis and treatment.
