Algorithmic Censorship

Algorithmic censorship occurs when algorithms—computer-based systems that filter or control online content—limit or hide certain information. This can happen intentionally, such as platforms removing harmful content, or unintentionally, through biases or restrictions embedded in the system. While these algorithms aim to create safer, more relevant online experiences, they can also inadvertently suppress valuable or diverse viewpoints. Essentially, algorithmic censorship is the automated, often invisible process that influences what information users see or don't see, shaping their understanding and interactions based on programmed guidelines or biases.
