Algiers Declaration

The Algiers Declaration, made in 1964, was a statement by Arab countries asserting that the Western Sahara region belonged to the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic and its sworn enemy, Morocco, should not claim sovereignty over it. The declaration aimed to support the Sahrawi people's right to self-determination and independence, opposing Moroccan territorial claims. It emphasized unity among Arab nations and called for efforts to help the Sahrawi people achieve independence through diplomatic and political means, laying the groundwork for ongoing conflicts over the region’s sovereignty.
