
Alexios Komnenos
Alexios Komnenos was a 12th-century Byzantine nobleman and military leader, father of Emperor Manuel I Komnenos. He was instrumental in strengthening the Byzantine Empire during a period of internal stability and territorial recovery. Known for his military skill and administrative talent, Alexios played a key role in defending the empire’s borders and supporting his family’s rise to imperial power. His leadership helped lay the groundwork for the Komnenian dynasty, which restored much of Byzantium’s strength and influence during the Middle Ages.
