Alexios I
Alexios I Komnenos was a Byzantine emperor from 1081 to 1118, known for restoring stability and strengthening the empire during a challenging period. He reformed the military, improved finances, and sought stronger allies, especially through alliances with Western Europe. Facing threats from both the Normans and Seljuk Turks, he worked to defend Byzantine lands and maintain its power. His leadership helped preserve the empire’s integrity after years of decline, laying the groundwork for subsequent Byzantine revival under his successors.
