Alexander Vasilevich Kolchak was a Russian naval officer and polar explorer in the early 20th century. During World War I, he served as a navy commander and gained recognition for his leadership. Later, during the Russian Civil War (1917–1923), he became a prominent leader of the White Army, opposing the Bolsheviks (Reds). He led efforts to resist communist control but was eventually captured and executed by Soviet authorities in 1920. Kolchak is remembered as a significant military figure and a symbol of the anti-Bolshevik resistance, with his actions deeply influencing Russian history during that turbulent period.
