Aleutian Trench

The Aleutian Trench is a deep underwater valley located off the southern coast of Alaska, part of the Pacific Ring of Fire. It forms where the Pacific tectonic plate is slowly sinking beneath the North American plate, creating a subduction zone. This process causes frequent earthquakes and volcanic activity, shaping the region’s rugged coastline and volcanic islands. The trench is approximately 35,000 feet deep, making it one of the world's deepest oceanic trenches.
