Alemannic dialect

Alemannic is a group of German dialects spoken mainly in southwestern Germany, Switzerland, parts of Austria, and France’s Alsace region. It belongs to the Upper German dialect family and has distinct pronunciation, vocabulary, and grammar features that set it apart from standard German. These dialects have deep historical roots, developing from the medieval Alemannic tribes, and are used mainly in everyday speech, local media, and cultural expressions.
