Alcohol-based hand sanitizer
Alcohol-based hand sanitizer is a disinfectant containing alcohol (usually ethanol or isopropyl alcohol) designed to quickly reduce germs on the skin. When applied properly, it kills many bacteria, viruses, and other microbes by disrupting their cell membranes and proteins. It is a convenient, fast-acting alternative to handwashing with soap and water, especially when those are not available. For effectiveness, it should contain at least 60% alcohol and be rubbed thoroughly over all surfaces of the hands until dry. However, it doesn't eliminate all types of germs and is less effective if hands are visibly dirty or greasy.
