Alberto L. González is an American lawyer who served as the U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security from 2005 to 2009 under President George W. Bush. Born in 1951 in Los Angeles, he is the first Hispanic to hold that position. Prior to this role, he was the U.S. Attorney General from 2001 to 2005, overseeing federal law enforcement.
