Alamo (the site)
The Alamo is a historic mission and fortress located in San Antonio, Texas. Built in the 18th century, it played a key role in Texas history, especially during the Texas Revolution. In 1836, a small group of Texan fighters defended the site against Mexican forces led by Santa Anna in a famous battle. Although the Mexicans won, the battle became a symbol of Texan independence and courage. Today, the Alamo is preserved as a museum and popular tourist site, representing Texas pride and heritage, and serving as a reminder of the struggle for independence.
