Al-Nakba
Al-Nakba, meaning "the catastrophe" in Arabic, refers to the mass displacement of Palestinians that occurred during the 1948 Arab-Israeli War, following the creation of the State of Israel. Over 700,000 Palestinians fled or were expelled from their homes, many losing their land and identity. This event marked a significant turning point in Palestinian history, leading to ongoing struggles over land, sovereignty, and rights. Al-Nakba is remembered annually by Palestinians as a symbol of loss, displacement, and the hardships faced in their pursuit of self-determination.
