Al-Mu'tasim

Al-Mu'tasim was a prominent Abbasid caliph who ruled from 833 to 842 CE. Known for consolidating imperial authority, he strengthened the military and established a new capital, Dar al-Khilafah, in Samarra to centralize power away from Baghdad. His reign was marked by efforts to reduce the influence of the Turkish guards and improve the stability of the empire. Al-Mu'tasim was also a patron of culture and innovation, helping to shape the Abbasid Caliphate during a transformative period.
