Al-Gama'a al-Islamiyya
Al-Gama'a al-Islamiyya is an Egyptian Islamist organization founded in the early 1980s that seeks to establish an Islamic state based on their interpretation of Sharia law. Initially engaging in social and religious activities, they later adopted a more militant stance, becoming involved in violent attacks against the Egyptian government and others, aiming to overthrow secular authorities. The group has been designated as a terrorist organization by multiple countries but has also engaged in efforts toward reconciliation and renouncement of violence. Its objectives center on transforming society through strict Islamic principles, advocating both ideological and political change.
