Al-Bashir (Omar al-Bashir)

Omar al-Bashir was the president of Sudan from 1989 to 2019. He came to power through a military coup and led the country for nearly three decades. During his rule, Sudan faced internal conflicts, including the Darfur crisis, which involved widespread violence and accusations of genocide. In 2009, the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for him on charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity. He was ousted by the military in 2019 amid protests against his leadership. His tenure was marked by both efforts for stability and serious human rights concerns.
