Al-Ashraf Khalil was a Mamluk Sultan of Egypt who ruled from 1290 to 1293. He is best known for recapturing the city of Jerusalem from the Crusaders in 1291, ending nearly a century of Crusader control. His victory strengthened Mamluk power in the region and boosted Islamic pride. Khalil was a strong military leader and known for his efforts to defend and expand his realm, though his reign was short. He played a significant role in ending Crusader influence in the Holy Land and maintaining the Mamluk Sultanate’s prominence in the Middle East.
