Akechi Mitsuhide was a samurai and general in 16th-century Japan during the tumultuous Sengoku period. Originally serving under the powerful warlord Oda Nobunaga, Mitsuhide is most known for betraying him in 1582, leading to Nobunaga’s death. His motives remain debated, but his actions significantly impacted Japanese history, paving the way for Toyotomi Hideyoshi’s rise. Mitsuhide’s career was marked by military skill and political ambition. However, his betrayal ultimately led to his own downfall, as he was shortly defeated by Hideyoshi.
