AIS

AIS, or Automatic Identification System, is a tracking system used by ships and authorities to share real-time location and navigation information. Equipped with transponders, ships broadcast their position, course, and speed, allowing others to see their location on a digital map. This improves safety by preventing collisions, enhancing traffic management, and aiding search and rescue efforts. AIS operates via radio signals, and many maritime vessels and ports use it for better coordination and situational awareness in busy waterways.
