Airborne Laser Testbed (ALT)

The Airborne Laser Testbed (ALT) was a research aircraft equipped with advanced laser technology to develop and demonstrate high-energy laser weapon systems. It was designed to test the feasibility of using lasers from aircraft to disable missiles or other threats before they reach their targets. Operating at high altitude and speed, the ALT aimed to provide a mobile platform for testing laser targeting, power, and beam control in real-world conditions. Though no longer active, it contributed valuable insights into directed energy weapon development and defense capabilities.
