Air sparging
Air sparging is a remediation technique used to clean contaminated groundwater. It involves injecting air into the underground water through a series of wells. The injected air creates bubbles that help to break down and remove pollutants, such as volatile organic compounds, by encouraging their vaporization and enabling them to be collected or degraded. This process also increases the pressure in the groundwater, helping to push contaminants upward to the surface where they can be treated. Air sparging is effective for treating soil and groundwater contamination beneath the earth's surface, especially in aquifers and underground tanks.
