Air Force of the Hungarian People's Army
The Air Force of the Hungarian People's Army was the aerial military branch of Hungary's armed forces during the socialist era (1949-1990). It operated fighter jets, transport aircraft, and helicopters, primarily for defense, training, and supporting ground forces within the context of the Warsaw Pact. Equipped with Soviet-designed aircraft, it maintained air security and participated in military exercises. After 1990, it was restructured and integrated into Hungary's modern national defense system, transitioning from a communist-era force to a professional military organization aligned with NATO standards.
