Air density refers to how much air mass is contained in a given volume. It depends on altitude, temperature, and pressure—higher altitudes and warmer temperatures generally decrease density, while higher pressure increases it. Dense air has more molecules packed together, which affects things like aircraft lift, weather patterns, and how sound travels. For example, at sea level, air is denser, providing better lift for airplanes and stronger winds. Conversely, in higher altitudes, thinner air can make flying and breathing more challenging.
