Ainu community
The Ainu are an indigenous people primarily from Japan's northern region, especially Hokkaido, with historical roots also in parts of Russia. They have distinct language, culture, and spiritual beliefs, often centered on nature and animals. Traditionally, the Ainu practiced hunting, fishing, and weaving. Despite facing assimilation pressures, they have preserved their cultural identity through festivals, crafts, and language revitalization efforts. Recognized as indigenous by the Japanese government, the Ainu community continues to celebrate their heritage while seeking greater recognition and rights within Japanese society.
