Ailerons
Ailerons are hinged panels located on the outer parts of an aircraft’s wings. They work together to control the plane’s roll, or how it tilts side to side. When a pilot moves the control stick, one aileron goes up and the other down. The upward-moving aileron decreases lift on that wing, while the downward-moving aileron increases lift on the other, causing the plane to tilt or roll in the desired direction. This allows the pilot to maneuver the aircraft smoothly during flight.
