Ahu Tongariki
Ahu Tongariki is the largest and most iconic sunken moai platform on Easter Island, located in the southeastern part of the island in Chile. It features a line of 15 massive stone statues called moai, which are carved close to 800 years ago by the Rapa Nui people. These statues are believed to represent ancestral figures and were positioned to overlook the island, serving religious and cultural purposes. Restored in the 1990s, Ahu Tongariki is now a symbol of the island’s rich heritage and a prominent archaeological site attracting visitors from around the world.
