agar dilution

Agar dilution is a laboratory method used to determine the lowest concentration of an antibiotic that can stop bacterial growth. Scientists prepare a series of agar plates—jelly-like surfaces—with increasing amounts of the antibiotic. They then spot different bacteria onto each plate. After incubation, they observe which plates support bacterial growth. The smallest amount of antibiotic that prevents any growth indicates the bacteria's susceptibility level. This method helps in choosing effective antibiotics for infection treatment and understanding bacterial resistance.
