Afro-Brazilian Communities
Afro-Brazilian communities are groups in Brazil composed primarily of people of African descent, whose ancestors were brought to Brazil through the transatlantic slave trade. These communities have preserved rich cultural traditions, religious practices, music, dance, and cuisine influenced by African roots. Despite historical struggles with racism and social inequality, they actively contribute to Brazil’s diverse cultural landscape. Afro-Brazilian communities also work to promote social justice, recognition, and the preservation of their unique heritage within Brazilian society.
