Afrikaner Weerstandsbeweging (AWB)
The Afrikaner Weerstandsbeweging (AWB) is a far-right, nationalist organization in South Africa, founded in 1973. It advocates for the interests of Afrikaners—ethnic white South Africans of Dutch descent—and opposed the end of apartheid. The AWB is known for its extremist views, including racial segregation and white supremacy, and has engaged in acts of violence and intimidation to promote its goals. Although it has a small membership today, its history is marked by radical activism and opposition to racial integration policies during South Africa’s transition to majority rule.
