African Meeting House
The African Meeting House, located in Boston, Massachusetts, is one of the oldest surviving African American churches in the United States, built in 1806. It served as a cultural, religious, and community center for Black residents, especially during times of slavery and racial discrimination. The building played a vital role in abolitionist activities, effort toward civil rights, and fostering Black community identity. Today, it functions as a historic site and museum, preserving the history of African Americans’ struggles and achievements, and educating visitors about their significant contributions to American history.
