AFP (Apple Filing Protocol)
The Apple Filing Protocol (AFP) is a network protocol developed by Apple for sharing files over a network, primarily within Mac computers. It enables users to access files, folders, and network services seamlessly as if they were stored locally on their devices. AFP supports features like file permissions and resource forks, which are important for maintaining file integrity and metadata. Although it's been largely replaced by newer protocols like SMB (Server Message Block) for cross-platform compatibility, AFP remains a key part of Mac networking, especially in older systems or specific applications.
