Afforestation and Reforestation

Afforestation and reforestation are both methods to increase forest cover, but they differ in timing and purpose. Afforestation involves planting trees in areas that were previously without forests, effectively creating new woodland. Reforestation refers to replanting trees in areas where forests have been recently cut down or destroyed, restoring the original forest cover. Both practices help combat climate change by absorbing carbon dioxide, improve biodiversity, and protect ecosystems. Essentially, afforestation builds new forests where none existed before, whereas reforestation restores forests that were lost or damaged.
