Aethelwulf

Aethelwulf was a 9th-century Anglo-Saxon king of Wessex, a kingdom in what is now southern England. He ruled from around 839 until his death in 854 and was known for strengthening his kingdom's defenses against Viking invasions. Aethelwulf was also the father of several important figures, including Alfred the Great, who later became famous for defending England from Viking attacks. His reign helped shape early English history through military efforts and political leadership during a turbulent period of invasions and unification.
