Advanced Sleep Phase Disorder
Advanced Sleep Phase Disorder (ASPD) is a sleep condition where individuals naturally become very sleepy early in the evening and wake up very early in the morning, often several hours before typical wake times. These individuals tend to go to bed and wake up at times that are earlier than what most people follow, despite trying to stay awake later. ASPD is related to a misalignment of the body's internal clock, or circadian rhythm, making it difficult to stay awake or asleep at socially conventional times. Treatment often includes light therapy and maintaining consistent sleep schedules.
