Adults at risk
Adults at risk are individuals who may be more vulnerable to harm or neglect due to factors such as illness, disability, mental health issues, or social circumstances. Their ability to make safe, informed decisions can be diminished. Recognizing adults at risk involves understanding these vulnerabilities and ensuring they receive appropriate support and protection, while respecting their rights and independence. Healthcare professionals, social workers, and caregivers have a duty to identify, prevent, and respond to situations where an adult’s safety or well-being may be compromised.
