Adrenocortical Insufficiency

Adrenocortical insufficiency occurs when the adrenal glands, small organs above the kidneys, do not produce enough critical hormones like cortisol and aldosterone. These hormones help regulate stress response, blood pressure, metabolism, and immune function. When levels are low, individuals may experience fatigue, weakness, weight loss, low blood pressure, and sometimes dizziness or abdominal pain. The condition can be caused by autoimmune diseases, infections, or damage to the adrenal glands. Treatment typically involves hormone replacement therapy to restore normal hormone levels and manage symptoms effectively.
