Administrative Appeals Tribunal
The Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT) is an independent body that reviews certain government decisions, such as visas, social security, or immigration cases. If someone disagrees with a decision made by a government agency, they can ask the AAT to reconsider it. The tribunal looks at the case afresh, considering all relevant information, and can either uphold, vary, or overturn the original decision. Its role is to ensure decisions are fair, lawful, and based on proper evidence, providing an impartial review process outside of the courts.
