Adenoviral vector

An adenoviral vector is a tool used in medicine, especially in gene therapy and vaccine development, to deliver genetic material into human cells. It is based on a harmless virus called adenovirus, which has been modified to carry specific genes without causing illness. When introduced into the body, the adenoviral vector enters cells and delivers the desired genetic instructions, prompting the body to produce a response—like building immunity against a virus (as in some COVID-19 vaccines). This method is effective because viruses naturally evolved to enter cells, making them efficient delivery vehicles.
