Adelige (nobility)

Adelige refers to the noble class in German-speaking regions, historically distinguished by hereditary titles and social privileges. Nobility often held land, political influence, and special rights, maintaining a status above common citizens. While nobility's political power diminished over time, their social standing and privileges persisted in various forms. Being part of the Adel was typically inherited, though titles and privileges could also be granted by monarchy or ruling authorities.
