Adelie Land

Adélie Land is a region of Antarctica claimed by France, located along the continent's eastern coast near the Antarctic Peninsula. It is named after the French explorer Jules Dumont d'Urville’s wife, Adèle. The land is mostly covered by ice and is home to diverse wildlife such as penguins, seals, and seabirds. Because of its extreme cold and remote location, it is primarily used for scientific research rather than settlement. Although it is a French territory, several countries conduct research there, and international treaties protect the environment and limit human impact.
