adaptive automation

Adaptive automation refers to technology that adjusts its level of assistance based on the operator’s current needs and performance. Instead of a system that is either fully manual or fully automated, adaptive automation dynamically shifts control between human and machine, enhancing safety, efficiency, and workload management. For example, in an aircraft, the system might take over certain tasks when the pilot is overloaded or stressed, then hand control back when the pilot is ready. This approach ensures optimal operation by responding to real-time conditions, improving resilience and decision-making.
