Adaptation to Stress

Adaptation to stress refers to the body's ability to respond to challenges or pressure in a way that maintains balance and function. When faced with stress, the body activates various systems—like releasing hormones such as adrenaline and cortisol—to manage the situation. Over time, with manageable stress, these responses can help us grow stronger and develop resilience. However, chronic or overwhelming stress can overwhelm these systems, leading to health problems. Essentially, adaptation is the process by which the body adjusts to stressors — either by coping effectively or, if persistently exposed, by becoming strained.
