Adam's Y-Chromosome

Adam's Y-chromosome is a hypothetical ancestral Y-chromosome from which all modern human males' Y-chromosomes are descended. It represents the most recent common ancestor, often called "Y-chromosomal Adam," who lived roughly 200,000 to 300,000 years ago. While not necessarily the first man, he is the individual whose Y-chromosome lineage has been passed down through generations without interruption. Studying Adam's Y-chromosome helps scientists understand human migration, ancestry, and genetic evolution, revealing how male lineages have spread and changed over time.
