Adam Rapacki

Adam Rapacki was a Polish diplomat and politician best known for proposing the Rapacki Plan in 1957, which aimed to create a Nuclear-Weapon-Free Zone in Central Europe. His goal was to promote peace and reduce nuclear tensions during the Cold War by encouraging neighboring countries to limit or ban nuclear arms in the region. Although the plan was not adopted, it highlighted efforts towards arms control and dialogue between East and West during a tense period in history.
