Ad Hoc Tribunals

Ad hoc tribunals are temporary courts established by the international community to address specific cases of serious violations of international law, such as war crimes, genocide, or crimes against humanity. They are created for a particular conflict or situation and cease to exist once their mission is complete. Examples include the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR) and the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY). These tribunals aim to deliver justice, hold perpetrators accountable, and promote international law, often working alongside existing national courts to ensure accountability for grave offenses.
