Acute Respiratory Infections
Acute Respiratory Infections (ARIs) are infections that affect the respiratory system, including the nose, throat, and lungs. They can be caused by viruses, like the flu or the common cold, or bacteria. Symptoms often include coughing, sneezing, runny nose, sore throat, and sometimes fever. Most ARIs are mild and improve on their own, but they can be more severe in young children, the elderly, and individuals with weakened immune systems. Prevention includes good hygiene practices, like regular handwashing and vaccination for certain viruses.
