acute radiation syndrome

Acute Radiation Syndrome (ARS) occurs when the body is exposed to a high dose of radiation over a short period. This intense exposure damages rapidly dividing cells, especially in the bone marrow, gastrointestinal tract, and skin, leading to symptoms like nausea, vomiting, weakness, and hair loss. The severity depends on the Radiation dose received; higher doses can cause more serious health problems, including infections, bleeding, and organ failure. Treatment involves supportive care, removing the source of radiation when possible, and sometimes medical interventions to reduce damage and support recovery.
