Acute pyelonephritis

Acute pyelonephritis is a sudden inflammation of the kidney tissue caused by a bacterial infection. It often results from an infection that starts in the bladder and moves upward. Symptoms may include fever, chills, back or side pain, frequent or painful urination, and nausea. It requires prompt medical treatment, usually with antibiotics, to prevent kidney damage.
